  24.    We couldn't agree more.  The day there is a "simple" instruction kit
  25.    with perhaps platform specific attachments will be one worth waiting for.

  29. The new stuff that Karl sends out is by definition Beta-test.
  30. People who sign on to tex-k are people who are willing to
  31. undertake the risks of beta-test versions.  We would all love
  32. it if software came out without bugs the first time, like
  33. the Forbin Project, but it doesn't.

  35. If you want software that is well shaken down, and needs a minimum
  36. of effort to compile and install, try one of the CD-ROMs.  They
  37. are quite cheap.  Or you can get a tape from UnixTeX, which is
  38. not so cheap.  It won't be the latest version, of course, but
  39. it will be stable.  If you want to play with the latest upgrades,
  40. please be ready to expect that they may need refinement.

  42. (UnixTeX, by the way, always hangs a version or so back until the
  43. bugs have been thoroughly flitted---it seems the only reasonable
  44. thing for a redistributor to do.)
